These brochures aim to inform patients and supplement preoperative consultations and thus facilitate communication between the public and the plastic and cosmetic surgeons who provide them with their services. These brochures are intended for the clientele of plastic surgeons across Canada and were prepared by the Joint National Committee.

To date, nearly 1 million copies have been sold across Canada and are used by one-third of Canadian plastic surgeons.

The Canadian Medical Protective Association recognizes the value of these types of brochures as a supplement to obtaining informed consent and the surgeon's dialogue with the patient.
